Antivirus Survivors Beginner Guide (2026)
Everything officially confirmed about starting Antivirus Survivors 2003 Professional: run length, progression systems, and what to expect on day one.
What kind of game is this?
Antivirus Survivors 2003 Professional is a survivor-like (also called “bullet heaven”) action roguelike, styled as an early-2000s antivirus utility. Hordes of malware close in, your build clears them out, and every run makes the next one stronger. The developer confirms runs take roughly 30–40 minutes from start to finish.
The core loop, system by system
- Weapons (24 at launch) — your primary damage. Confirmed names include Pinball, Solitaire, Mines, Firewall, Bubbles and Paint. See the weapons database.
- Drivers (50) — attachments that modify your weapons. The full driver list is being verified in the drivers hub.
- Plugins (62) — run modifiers installed via the officially named Plugin Installer. Start with the plugins hub.
- File types (33) — in-run collectibles with effects. LemWire, BigWave and Defrag are the confirmed names so far — details in the file types hub.
- BeanZ and meta upgrades (18) — permanent progression between runs, covered in BeanZ and meta upgrades.
Difficulty: protocols and policies
The game ships with 5 difficulty levels (protocol folders) and 15 policies. How they stack is covered in protocols and policies.
Status effects to know on day one
Three status effects are officially confirmed: Heat, Lag and Infect. Firewall applies Heat, Paint applies Lag, and Bubbles applies Infect, per Demo Update 1.2. The full breakdown is in status effects.
Platform and performance
The game launches on Steam for Windows, macOS and Linux, and the developer announced Steam Deck Verified status on September 17, 2026 — see the Steam Deck guide.
What we deliberately don’t know yet
Best starting weapons, optimal first meta upgrades and protocol strategies all require full-release testing — publishing a tier list before launch would be fabrication, so we don’t. This wiki runs a strict evidence policy: anything not confirmed by the developer or the Steam store page is marked pending verification rather than guessed. Full-release data gets re-verified from launch day, September 28, 2026.
FAQ
Is Antivirus Survivors good for beginners to survivor-likes? The 30–40 minute run length and 5 difficulty tiers suggest a gentle on-ramp, but the honest answer is: we’ll know on September 28. This guide gets rewritten against the full game at launch.
Do I need to play the demo first? No — but a public demo exists if you want a head start. See the demo guide.
